A rainstick is a musical instrument — more specifically, a percussion instrument — that makes a sound resembling rain.
It’s fairly easy to make a rainstick: all you need is a tube of some sort, plenty of toothpicks, and something like buckwheat seeds for the filling. But that’s the beauty of it: the concept is simple, yet each rainstick creates an unique sound.
My rainsticks are made of papier-mâché and are relatively short, with the sound lasting less than a minute. They are highly decorative, though.
